Morocco is making the cultural news headlines in Paris this fall
The arts and the culture of Morocco are under the spotlight through different events, concerts and debates at various cultural venues in Paris during L’automne marocain à Paris (The Moroccan fall in Paris). The two major events of this artistic season are comprehensive exhibitions about Morocco’s arts and traditions in its ancient and modern ways. The first exhibition to visit started on 15 October 2014 at the Institut du monde arabe, the Arab World Institute. The exhibition ‘Le Maroc contemporain‘ (Contemporary Morocco), invites you to discover the modern arts of Morocco and runs until 25 January 2015. Beautiful artistic creations are on display, ranging from paintings, drawings and videos to photographs and other art forms. This exhibition is a must visit if you are interested in discovering the rich and diverse world of artistic creation in today’s Morocco.
I would also suggest to visit another exhibition, in the famous Louvre museum: ‘Medieval Morocco. An empire from Africa to Spain‘, running from 17 October 2014 until 19 January 2015. This exhibition provides a new look at the medieval period (11th to 15th century) when the western Islamic world was at the height of its glory in areas such as architectural decoration, textiles, ivory carving and calligraphy. Medieval Morocco takes visitors on a chronological journey through the Moroccan and Andalusian cultural landscape. You will enjoy this exhibition if you are inspired by the traditional Moroccan touch.
